Trust in The Lord

Trust in The Lord

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Do you trust the Lord? I believe most of us would answer a resounding yes to that question. But let me ask a different way, do you put your trust in the Lord? Do you talk to Him and hand your problems over to Him? Or do you always try to solve things yourself, and hold out calling on Him as your last resort?

Psalms and Proverbs have much to say about trusting The Lord, while also letting us know some of the downfalls of putting our trust in ourselves or others. Below are just a few verses I found.

Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.”(Psalms 125:1)

“He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered. (Proverbs 28:25-26)

By truly putting our trust in the Almighty and allowing Him to direct us we can become like the “Mount of Zion”, meaning the world and its darts will not move us, because God is on our side. But in order for that to happen, we have to find a way to give up our “proud heart,” turn things over to the Lord, and not take them back. We must do our part, but we also must let the Lord lead the way. We must walk in His wisdom, no ours.

My challenge to you this week - think about a burden or challenge you are carrying today, turn it over to God, and let Him lead the way.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not [a]fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8) ~PJH
